About Sharon

Sharon Hudson BSc, MA

Sharon holds an MA in Play Therapy and is a registered member of The British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) and through this meets the stringent standards of The Professional Standards Authority (PSA). She currently works in the Leicestershire & East Anglia areas, but will happily consider referrals and work in other areas. 

An Early Years practitioner with a demonstrated history of working with children, she understands the power and value of play. Skilled in Play Therapy, Child-Centred Work, Mental Health, Bereavement & Loss, Counselling Psychology, Play, Attachment Theory, Child Behaviour and Trauma. Sharon is a good mental health service professional with a Masters Degree in Play Therapy from the Department of Psychology at the University of Roehampton.

Sharon’s MA training was based on a humanistic person-centered model of therapy, which emphasised the use of play within a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client, to facilitate therapeutic change. Encompassing theoretical, practical and experiential learning through holistic approaches a thorough and systematic base of knowledge, experience, skills and confidence,  resulted in a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic techniques and approaches to address the needs of the client as a professional Play Therapist.

Sharon has worked with Children for many years and has a good understanding of child development as well as experience with working with families and carers. She has in the past volunteered for Cruse Bereavement and has recently completed child bereavement training with a Midlands based charity, The Laura Centre.

Sharon maintains her professional registration with BAPT through an evidence-based portfolio of CPD activities, clinical supervision in line with her workload, information governance, ethical practice, risk assessments,  up to date enhanced DBS check and safeguarding. In addition to this Sharon is also currently trained in paediatric first aid.
